THE REASON KING DAVID WAS DIFFERENT
“So David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing; but now, I pray take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.” -I Chronicles 21:8 NKJV
King David made multiple mistakes and committed sins worthy of death, but he always got forgiven; we should all know why. Read that study verse carefully again and see through David’s heart: “… I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing; but now, I pray take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”
In that verse, he acknowledged the gravity of HIS SIN, he requested for FORGIVENESS, and he confirmed that his action was VERY FOOLISH! You don’t know what it means to be provoked until you hear a foolish person defend his foolishness! Many would commit sin but would blame other people for it! Adam blamed Eve (and indirectly blamed God who created Eve for him) for the sin of disobedience that he committed. King Saul blamed his followers for his disobedience and foolish actions. But King David said; ‘I DID IT… IT IS MY SIN, FORGIVE ME… AND THAT, WAS SO FOOLISH OF ME!’
Do you evaluate your actions and inactions? How do you react when people point out your errors? Do you silent your accusers because you’re King, because you’re the Boss, or because you’re Older than them; instead of checking to see if there was wisdom in what you’re doing… or if your actions are actually sinful? The soul that will be saved and that would record no losses must be humble enough for corrections and rebukes from anyone. If you want to enjoy endless mercies and graces, imitate King David in humility and sincerity.
