PRAY AGAINST THOSE "AHITHOPHELS"

“Now when Ahithophel saw that his advice was not followed, he saddled a donkey, and arose and went home to his house, to his city. Then he put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died; and he was buried in his father’s tomb.” II Samuel 17:23 NKJV

Who was Ahithophel? Ahithophel was one of the counsellors of King David, and a friend of his. He was a very wise man considering his profile: “Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.” II Samuel 16:23 NKJV. You could call him a genius when it comes to giving counsel.

But to show that even though he was close to King David, his heart was not really with him. The moment Absalom invited Ahithophel to join his conspiracy against his father David, Ahithophel accepted. And he was ready to advice Absalom on the best way to kill his father, King David, very fast. Had David not said a simple word of prayer on hearing that Ahithophel was in the league of Absalom; he could have died that same night that Ahithophel advised Absalom to pursue. David understood the power of prayer: “Then someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”” II Samuel 15:31 NKJV. And GOD moved swiftly for David! Such that when Ahithophel gave the counsel about the best and fast way to kill David, GOD frustrated that advice. He made it sound like a bad idea in the ears of the people, and Absalom. So, they dropped his idea for someone else’s. He felt so ashamed. So humiliated, that he went home and killed himself.

We sometimes have people like that around us. They are friends or close relatives, but they are killers! Close-but-dangerous! Friends who play the roles of enemies. If you do not pray against them, their plans over you may succeed. Even this pandemic, we hear is a product of some evil masterminds. We must pray against them too! Tell GOD, “O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!” Evil meetings that are holding concerning your family, your career, your finances, your life, your ministry, even your nation. Tell GOD to frustrate them. Let those who are scheming evil concerning you and your nation fall into their own traps in Jesus name! Amen!
