       LOYALTY IN A NUTSHELL

“But Ittai answered the king and said, “ As the Lord lives, and as my Lord the king lives, surely in whatever place my Lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also your servant will be.” II Samuel 15:21 NKJV

Do not follow a leader, whose God you have not known! Before Ruth told Naomi; _*”…Don’t ask me to leave you! Let me go with you. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and that is where I will be buried. May the LORD’s worst punishment come upon me if I let anything but death separate me from you!”*_ (Ruth 1:16‭-‬17 GNB) she had known Naomi’s God! Elisha too had experienced the God of Elijah before he refused to stop following Elijah; even though Elijah repeatedly tried to put him away.

Followership (based on friendship or a worthy cause) or discipleship, is like the military. To back out, or refuse instructions after enrolment can either be termed betrayal, rebellion, or mutiny! Which are punishable offenses. Unless of course, if the leader is operating contrary to the Constituted Government. Ittai too could join those who have made alliance with Absalom to depose King David, but he chose to follow him instead. Even though we all know David was serving the punishment for his sins. He had been forgiven by God, but was experiencing the aftermath of his blunder.

Friends or followers who cannot identify with you when you’re not reigning are dangerous acquaintances. Friends are for adversities, fans are for fame! Fans will leave you if you’re not the song every one is singing. Fans will leave you if you’re not reigning, but friends won’t. _*”Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint.”*_ Proverbs 25:19 NKJV

_*”Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”*_ Isaiah 1:18 KJV
