HOW DO YOU FEEL ...?“Now it came about when I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying [constantly] before the God of heaven.” -Nehemiah 1:4 AMP
When you hear that the Church is being attacked in certain nation or region, how do you feel in your bowels? When you hear that a Sister or Brother fell from faith, how do you feel? When someone tells you a known Pastor made a terrible mistake, how do you react? When people speak ill of your Pastor or Ministry, how do you feel?
You should feel bad, angry, and sad… You should not rejoice at the calamity of the Kingdom you belong to! If your sense of self-righteousness suddenly arises because you heard of the downfall of a Sister or Brother; believe me, you need more help than the person that fell! That you’re in safety and comfort now, doesn’t mean you’re truly safe-the enemy is coming for you too! Mordecai told Queen Esther: .“… Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?” -Esther 4:13-14 AMP. Meaning, Mordecai was telling Queen Esther, use whatever you are, and whatever you have right now, to fight for and support God’s people!
Nehemiah could have thought “well, I am here in the King’s palace serving the most powerful man. Israel is suffering for their sins, I don’t care whatever happens to them”. No! Nehemiah wept on hearing about their predicament! He sat down and mourned for God’s people! He fasted and prayed to God for mercy and help! And God honored his words! Don’t be a selfish Christian. Don’t laugh when your brethren suffer. Don’t clap when the devil wins the battle over your brethren! Use your influence, your capacity, and your resources to help God’s people-He will bless and honor you for it!
