WORD&POWER for TODAY

GET THE BLESSING WHEN YOU SHOULD

“Then Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kirjath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had dwelt… So Isaac breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people, being old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.” Genesis 35:27‭, ‬29 NKJV

Something quite profound struck me as I studied the story of Jacob, and I wish to share that with you. Let’s think together now. If Jacob was still going to see his father after twenty years plus of traveling, why did it look like his father Isaac was going to die the following day after passing The Blessing to his son …?

Rebekah had rushed upon Jacob to say; “… Indeed I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying, ‘Bring me game and make savory food for me, that I may eat it and bless you in the presence of the Lord before my death.’” Genesis 27:6‭-‬7 NKJV. The whole scenario played out as if Isaac might die the following day, or few days after then. There was so much rush and fight for The Blessing. Because Isaac felt the proper time to declare The Blessing was then. Whereas, he didn’t die as soon as they had thought. He still lived well over twenty years after then! Jacob traveled away and came back to still meet his father alive.

There is a definite timing for The Blessing, and only the “Blesser” knows that time. Not all blessings come at death-beds. Some might be when you’re preparing a meal for your husband. May be when you send an offering to support your Pastor. Or when you buy some stuff for your parents. I do not joke when my children, or those who read WORD&POWER for TODAY say, “may-God-bless-you”. I do not get too familiar with such sacred words. I am always quick to respond with a big “Amen-in-Jesus-name”. By faith in Jesus Christ, we are blessed with the blessings of Abraham. Yet, there are blessings we continually get from the people that surround us …and from those we serve. These blessings can be dispensed at times and moments we least expect them. So, always position yourself well, and be at alert to recieve them. How you touch people determines what leaves them to you. You will be mightily blessed this 2021, in Jesus mighty name! Amen.
