BE MINDFUL OF HUMILITY

WORD & POWER for TODAY

BE MINDFUL OF HUMILITY

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION , taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:5‭-‬8 NKJV

“Oh God humble me! Give me the grace to be humble!” That prayer is one of the most dangerous prayer anyone can do on himself! God doesn’t want to humble you, He wants you to humble yourself. His hands are always very heavy when He wants to correct arrogant people. Daniel advised King Nebuchadnezar to humble himself before God arrives to do it for him; but he didn’t listen-until he found himself in the jungle, walking on all four, and eating grass with his mouth; like a beast!

“I am better than him”, “I’m more beautiful than her”, “he doesn’t speak good English, as much as I do”, “I have more degrees than him”, “I’m too influencial to be seen with them”, “I am rich now, he’s not in my class anymore!” “Respect my tittle!” E.t.c These are thoughts and statements of arrogant people. They worry too much about their “reputations”. Jesus made Himself of no reputation; even though He had it. It was His choice to put His reputation aside, when He needed to serve.

Arrogance is the reason some people will never go far. They put a limit on their giftings because of pride. And a lot have fallen from their high horses, instead of climbing down from them. Pay attention to our study verse above-Jesus humbled Himself, God did not humble Him. Do it by yourself-be mindful of humility. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” I Peter 5:6 NKJV.
