  UNDERSTANDING FALSE WITNESSES

“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” Exodus 20:16 KJV

A witness is someone who confirms or disproves any claim. By a witness, a lie or truth can be accepted as valid. For example, in order for the rulers to have valid reasons to crucify Jesus, they fetched for themselves false witnesses against Him and He was crucified. Jezebel did the same against Naboth when she wanted his land. False witnesses were assembled against him, and that convinced others to stone him to death!

Even you, if you are not careful, you might be deployed as a false witness against an innocent man if you do not know how to briddle your tongue or control yourself. I know some people naturally like gossip. They like backbiting. They always have something to contribute to any news that flies around. If “everyone” is discussing it, then, it must be true. That is the bad philosophy some people live by. The Bible says, “But test all things carefully [so you can recognize what is good]. Hold firmly to that which is good.” 1 THESSALONIANS 5:21 AMP. To test all things means to verify, investigate, scan, and be thoroughly sure, before you hold unto anything as truth.

In case you hear anything funny about your neighbor or friend, such that is offensive to you. Jesus said, call your brother, settle the matter between you and him. He didn’t say jump into the street, or go on social media to type messages for your brother to read from there. If you do such things, only for you to later realize that you had the wrong information, your face would be covered with shame. Do not likewise allow anyone to make you accuse anybody of any kind of allegation, unless you’re sure of what really transpired. Don’t be recruited as a false witness against an innocent neighbor or friend. Because, if that person looses his or her life in the process, or suffers any form of damage, GOD will hold you responsible! It is a command from GOD. “YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR.”

Have you been blessed by this message? …spread the WORD, share with your friends. As it is written; “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” -Psalms 68:11 KJV
