THE REASON PEOPLE STILL DO BAD THINGS
“Because the sentence against an evil act is not executed quickly, the hearts of the sons of men are fully set to do evil.” -Ecclesiastes 8:11 AMP
On a lighter note, I remember someone saying that politicians shouldn’t be allowed to swear their oaths of office with the Bible anymore. That they should be made to swear by demonic powers, because God doesn’t seem to punish them quickly when they fail their people; unlike devils who have no mercy!
Funny as that may sound, it is the truth! If politicians are dealt with by God based on the promises they have made to their people; many of them would not finish their tenures alive! And I believe, fewer people would be interested in politics! Politics is not evil, but people are. People continue to do bad things because God delays in judging them. “Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and his life [seemingly] is prolonged [in spite of his wickedness], still I know that it will be well with those who [reverently] fear God, who fear and worship Him openly [realizing His omnipresence and His power]. But it will not be well for the evil man, nor will he lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.” -Ecclesiastes 8:12-13 AMP
Repentance; a change of heart and behavior, is what God seeks from every sinner. That’s why He often doesn’t punish sin instantly! “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:8-9 NKJV. If you do anything that doesn’t glorify God; do away with it now! Don’t wait until He’s ready to pass His judgements!
