LOVE GOD, AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS“Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9 AMP
Someone reacted to one of my articles sometime last year, that in the new testament we do not obey “commandments”; we only “do the word”. The Word of GOD is His commands. If you do certain things that GOD commanded shouldn’t be done in the old testament, even when you’re in the new, you will suffer the same consequence for your disobedience. Adultery for example was a sin in the old testament, as well as in the new testament. If you try it (because you do not want to “obey” commandments), someone’s husband or wife can kill you with a gun, cutlass or charm (even if the Israelites don’t kill you with stones). Don’t trespass! Simple.
GOD has never bent His standards. He is consistent with His covenants to His people. Faithful and regular, especially to those who love Him and obey His commands, from one generation up to a thousand and more of them. You cannot be carefree with GOD and expect Him to be “care-full” with you. Just in case you do not know; let me tell you that GOD changes His mind concerning good promises: “Therefore the Lord God of Israel says: ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the Lord says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.” I Samuel 2:30 NKJV.
What you do for GOD out of love for Him today, and how you react at His commandments have very serious impact on you and your descendants. For the sake of your children, yourself, and several generations that are coming through your lineage …love GOD and do whatever He instructs you to do. Love Him by serving Him with your life and resources. Do whatever He commands, and avoid whatever He says you should abstain from. This will guarantee His promises being fulfilled in your life, in the lives of your children, and everyone that comes through your lineage on this earth. He is a faithful GOD. “Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9 AMP.
