LIVE A SELFLESS LIFE FOR OTHERS“Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:4-5 KJV
Selfishness is not a spirit, it is an attitude formed in the mind of someone who cares only for himself. As much as it is important for us to care about ourselves, GOD wants us to care very much for other people. Read this carefully: “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; BUT IN LOWLINESS OF MIND LET EACH ESTEEM OTHER BETTER THAN THEMSELVES. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:1-5 KJV. That is the mind we should all have-The Mind of Christ.
If we esteem others instead of ourselves, we won’t be able to condemn and castigate the sincere efforts of our innocent brethren. Priscilla and Aquila found a gentleman named Apollos who was passionately teaching the gospel (although, according to John The Baptist). They took him in and taught him, untill he became such a powerful teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They didn’t shout him down or discourage him when they found him teaching what he knew. They upgraded and updated him with the present truth, and he rose to become a powerful teacher; more popular and well known than themselves (Acts 18:24-28). Train your mind to lift others up instead of trying to sell yourself. Walk in love. Show mercy. Be in one accord and in one mind towards the members of your fellowship or prayer team. Do not think in your mind, that you deserve to be on top over others. Jesus lived a selfless life for you, you should do the same for others. Have the mind of Christ.
