JUDGE NOT!

           JUDGE NOT!

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” Matthew 7:1‭-‬2 NKJV.

The story that quickly comes to mind here is that of the woman caught in the act of adultery. Everyone was glad they caught a sinner …in the very act! Opportunity to throw stones! I want to assume the woman’s husband and relations were in the angry mob. The religious leaders and Teachers were there as law enforcement agents. Then, Jesus made a simple request: “… He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” John 8:7 NKJV. Everyone on hearing that suddenly remembered they were not better than her. So, one-after-the-other, they dropped their stones and shamefully went away.

That is the problem with us. We rate sins in our minds. We believe some sins are more grave than the others. We think stealing is more grave than refusal to pay tithes of our income to GOD. We assume that watching pornographic films is not as bad as actually fornicating. We do not know that refusal to speak when we should speak the truth is synonymous to actually telling lies. When someone does what we count wrong around us, we quickly climb the seat of judgement. Castigating and condemning with all frankness. Refusing to evaluate our own stand with GOD first. Even Jesus, who happened to be the only One without sin in that assembly still said; “…Neither do I condemn you …” John 8:11 NKJV.

We should be careful with how we handle defaulters. We can actually make our own case worse depending on how we handle them. “Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you.” MATTHEW 7:1‭-‬2 AMP. We should be like Jesus. We should be more interested in conversion than destruction. He told the woman, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” John 8:11 NKJV. That should be our ultimate goal. The salvation of the soul, rather than its destruction.
