GOD CAN FIGHT FOR HIS OWN
“So it was, after they had carried it away, that the hand of the Lord was against the city with a very great destruction; and He struck the men of the city, both small and great, and tumors broke out on them.” 1Samuel 5:9 NKJV
The Philistines thought they got a treasure box! The Ark of the Covenant was made of gold, so it must have looked very attractive to them! Beside the glory and the glamour, the Philistines knew that the box was also a symbol of power and divine help for the children of Israel. So, when they defeated the Israelites and snatched the Ark of the Covenant from them, they rejoiced!! It is amazing how God chooses His method when fighting His enemies!
God didn’t make the children of Israel win the battle. He didn’t harm the Philistines when they lifted the Ark from the battle field. He didn’t kill or harm anyone of them on their way back home. He stayed calm and quiet as they were opening the doors to the shrine of dagon-their god! Then, overnight, God started! In the morning, they found Dagon on the ground with its face towards the dust; bowing before the Ark of God! The Philistines lifted it back to its position and went away. The next morning, dagon’s head and its two palms of its hands were broken off from it!!! Then, painful boils broke out in the land! God started fighting the land and its god! _*”But the hand of the Lord was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He ravaged them and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory.”*_ I Samuel 5:6 NKJV.
The enemies of God can sometimes believe they are winning at some points, because God is quiet, waiting for them to do a rethink! They might throw a party thinking they have defeated God, or His people! God is never in haste to prove any point to anyone… He is The Almighty!! By the time He starts fighting, even His enemies will acknowledge their faults. By the time God troubled the entire country, no one taught them to return the Ark to its original place-Israel! You are God’s property, if you are born-again. God will fight for you and everything that is yours, until your enemies surrender! _*”… do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”*_ -1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV. God will fight for you, and all yours!!!
