DO YOU BELIEVE?
“When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “yes, Lord.” Matthew 9:27-28 NKJV
When cynical people want to mock Christianity or Pastors, they say that if the Pastors are genuine, and if the power of their God is real, they should go to public hospitals and heal the sick there! They talk as if God is a magician. Magic doesn’t need the belief or faith of the recipient because it is mainly for entertainment; not for solution!
God does not perform magic, He performs miracles. And, miracles are produced through belief and faith in the power of God! Those two blind men had been calling upon Jesus to heal them of their blindness; yet Jesus feigned lack of interest. He wanted to be sure they had faith in His power. When He got into the house, they persisted in pleading with Him to heal them before He asked: “do you believe that I am able to do this?” They responded “yes, Lord”! Then He acted: “… He touched their eyes, saying, “according to your faith let it be to you.” Matthew 9:29 NKJV. They were healed instantly, not because Jesus could heal them, but because they believed that He could!
There are more Church-goers today than believers. From the way people talk and behave towards God and His Messengers, you too can tell that many people do not believe in the power of God. God has never changed, neither has His power diminished in working wonders through His Messengers. People are the ones who need to question themselves. “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”” Mark 9:23 NKJV
