ATTEND TO JESUS’ DISCIPLES
“And whoever gives to one of these little ones [these who are humble in rank or influence] even a cup of cold water to drink because he is my disciple, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42 AMP
The disciples of Jesus Christ are all around us; as either neighbors, friends, inlaws, siblings, employers, employees, colleagues at school or at work, parents, etc.
God is particularly interested in how you treat the followers of Jesus Christ. The cup of cold water that Jesus mentioned you should give to His disciples is only a description of your kindness towards them, and of your contribution to the spread of the gospel. Rahab (The prostitute) that hosted and kept the Israelite spies was rewarded with salvation, the preservation of her entire family members, and eventually she became an ancestor of Jesus Christ-She married a Jew named Salmon. They gave birth to Boaz who married Ruth the Moabitess, that gave birth to Obed. Obed gave birth to Jesse, Jesse the father of King David; the eventual ancestor of Jesus Christ (Read Matthew 1:5-6).
Whatever you’re doing to help, bless, teach or assist that disciple of Jesus Christ may seem small and simple in your own eyes. When the reward will come, it will be massive, and eternal! I love the fact that Jesus assures us, that we will never lose that reward! It is guaranteed! Extend that assistance to those you can help today. Have you ever hosted a disciple of Jesus Christ? Have you ever refreshed anyone of them? If you have not, you need to start today. And when you start, don’t stop doing it, if you want to be rewarded.
