NEIGHBOR TO SATAN, YET FAITHFUL TO CHRIST
“I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.” Revelation 2:13 NKJV
Thrones demand attention and worship! If you do not bow to it, you should be ready to get either killed or banished from that territory. Satan [initially called Lucifer] was an angel in Heaven, then he coveted worship. He attempted deposing God in order to enthrone himself; because he wanted attention and worship. But… he got kicked out of Heaven! Angels do not need thrones, because they’re not supposed to be worshipped or bowed to. They should join the worshippers, to worship and serve, the Lord God Almighty!
When Jesus was addressing the Church in Pergamum; satan had set up a throne for himself there. Pergamum was one of the most important cities of the Greek east under the Roman rule. Part of the city was built on the top of a Citadel, nearly 900 feet tall, a spectacular sight! I told you, that satan likes attention! Coincidentally, Christians lived in that same city. They were neighbors to satan! Yet, they refused to bow to him! You and I know, that life would be like daily hell for those Christians; because Satan was their neighbor!
Where Is your church located? Who are your neighbors? Does Jezebel live in your city? Are you surrounded by satan’s agents? What are you married to? The heat was much, but the Christians remained faithful to Jesus Christ! Hold onto your faith, in spite of what satan and his loyalists do against you; because Jesus has some gift for you: “… to him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” Revelation 2:17 NKJV. Jesus knows where you live! He knows your neighbors! He knows why your work isn’t going smoothly and growing steadily. He knows! Stay faithful to Jesus Christ, till the end, no matter what satan and his cohorts do against you!
