LOVE VERSUS LUST

“Then Amnon became extremely hateful toward her, for his hatred toward her was greater than the love which he had for her. And Amnon said to her, “get up and get out!” 2 Samuel 13:15 AMP

It might be very difficult for a lady to see through a persistent man! Because, to an average lady, attention is a green light! But, that persistent man could only want the lady, for fun!

Amnon made himself sick because he claimed to love his half-sister, Tamar. That in itself was already an anomaly! That was a misplaced affection. But, he got so obsessed with her to the point where he eventually schemed and succeeded in raping her! She thought he did that terrible act because he wanted her so badly for a wife. So, she advised him: *”… you will be considered one of the fools in Israel. So now, just speak to the king [about taking me as your wife], for he will not withhold me from you.” But he would not listen to her; and since he was stronger than she, he violated her and lay with her.”* 2 Samuel 13:13-14 AMP.

After raping her, he did the worst, by sending her out of his chamber, like a dog! Even a prostitute wouldn’t be treated that way! The Bible says Amnon *”… became extremely hateful toward her, for his hatred toward her was greater than the love which he had for her …”* It was a very sharp, and devastating contrast! He had been sick to have her, now he could not stand her, just within seconds of having had sex with her!! How does a so called “love” drop from 100% to minus 1,000, in just one moment!? That man was full of lust, not love, for his half-sister! Sex was all he wanted from her, not marriage! Be careful with that persistent fellow! Whether man, or lady!! I tell sisters to not settle for any man until their spiritual leaders have met, assessed, and approved that person. Gifts, beauty, and attention can blindfold you! But, the Holy Spirit will help your spiritual leader to see through those veils! Please, be careful. Do not mistake lust, for love!
